Senior Economist
Frederico Cardoso (he/him) is the Senior Economist at Centre for Mental Health. His research interests include political economy, socioeconomic inequality, anti-racism, LGBTQ+ issues, climate change, and their connection to mental health. Across these interests, Frederico’s main driver is to make good mental health care available and accessible to all.
Methodologically, Frederico has experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, economic valuations, as well as conducting interviews and literature reviews.
Before joining the Centre, Frederico worked in the Home Affairs and Social Policy department at RAND Europe. During his time at RAND, he contributed to policy research in the criminal justice, education and employment portfolios. This included an economic evaluation of the impact of hate crime on indirect victims for the Home Office, a review of state pension age formulae across OECD countries for the Department of Work and Pensions, and an assessment of the cost of corruption for the European Parliament.
He holds an M.A. (Distinction) in International Political Economy from King’s College London and a B.Sc. in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics.
