Equally Well UK invites you to an online event in collaboration with Pennine Care Trust.
A new trial (METRIC trial) is investigating the clinical and cost effectiveness of adding metformin to usual care, versus placebo with usual care, in preventing weight gain caused by antipsychotic treatment in people with a first episode of psychosis.
This study is examining whether metformin can help stop or lessen weight gain in people taking antipsychotics during their first episode of psychosis. It will include 340 participants who started antipsychotic medication within the last month and is taking place in 15–25 mental health services across the UK.
We will be joined by the trial’s investigators Dr Paul French and Professor Richard Holt who will provide an overview of the study and Katherine Paterson who will provide an introduction.
By attending this webinar, our members will gain first-hand insights from leading researchers into how their research will add to the current evidence base on preventing weight gain in this population.
