We warmly welcomed the Government’s announcement last month to create a cross-government mental health strategy for England, and a call for evidence to inform the development and implementation of the strategy.
Centre for Mental Health has been calling for this for a long time, and our evidence will set out what steps can be taken to make it as effective, sustainable and equitable as possible.
We want the Government to hear from people first-hand about what’s needed to make the strategy impactful, and are encouraging anyone who has knowledge about mental health to give evidence. If you want to contribute, we’ve created a new guide.
Our guide sets out a summary of the areas we’ll be including in our evidence, alongside the questions from the call for evidence, and background provided by the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).
The call for evidence is grouped into four sections: hospital to community, analogue to digital, sickness to prevention and factors enabling good practice.
Andy Bell, chief executive at Centre for Mental Health said “The strategy is a chance to change the way we are governed, by putting our mental health at the heart of policymaking. We hope this strategy will be clear and sustainable, informed by real life expertise and knowledge, with resources deployed where necessary and accountability for delivery baked in from the start.”
