An evaluation and summary evidence review of myHappymind

Supporting a whole-school approach to wellbeing is an evaluation and summary evidence review of the myHappymind programme.
myHappymind is an NHS-backed, whole-school mental health and wellbeing programme designed to support children, staff and families through a preventative, evidence-based approach to emotional wellbeing and inclusion.
Centre for Mental Health’s review of evidence from teachers delivering myHappymind in early years settings and primary schools in Bradford and Hampshire and the Isle of Wight found that the myHappymind programme supports children in their emotional regulation, self-esteem and wellbeing.
This report adds to a consistent and growing body of evidence that suggest that the myHappymind programme has a positive effect on pupils, staff and school climate with alignment between many of our findings and previous studies from the University of Chester and Portsmouth City Council.
Schools can play a key role in improving young people’s mental health through whole-school approaches. Programmes like myHappymind that work across the school and with the parent-carer community can be an important part of preventing mental health problems and early intervention.
The report recommends that the Departments of Health and Education should work together to support schools to follow a whole-school approach to promoting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, aligning with existing mental health support teams.
