Policy analysis

We are committed to addressing issues that are poorly understood, ignored, or neglected by policy and decisionmakers. Our aim is to bring greater understanding to policymaking, to change the terms of debate and to bring about action, especially where people with mental health needs have been overlooked or marginalised.

We work with partners to understand the policy landscape and its impact on the nation’s mental health. Our networks include parliamentarians, leading academics, user-led organisations, local authorities and national charities.

Our team supports partners with a range of activities including:

  • Thematic policy reviews, setting the latest developments in the context of research evidence
  • Gathering and analysing learning from practical examples of promising commissioning, collaboration and system working in local areas and regions
  • Collaborative workshops and roundtables to explore key issues and coproduce policy asks
  • Production of briefings and reports which translate lived experience, complex data and economic analysis into clear recommendations for national, regional and local change.

All of our policy work is led by our mission to promote mental health and wellbeing, and to challenge inequality and disadvantage throughout the life course. We are committed to working with funders, policymakers and partners who share our values.
