Chief Economist

Michael Parsonage is Chief Economist at Centre for Mental Health. He previously worked as a senior economist in the Department of Health and in HM Treasury. Since joining Centre for Mental Health in 2002, he has also worked as a consultant for a number of other organisations in the mental health field, including the Mental Health Foundation, the Scottish Association for Mental Health, the Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health and the All Wales Mental Health Promotion Network.

During his time at Centre for Mental Health he has produced or contributed to more than 50 reports, papers and articles, based on the application of economic analysis to a wide range of mental health issues. Current areas of interest include: childhood mental health, the links between mental health and physical health, mental health promotion, the costs of mental health problems, and longitudinal analysis.
