Matt has worked with the Centre for Mental Health for over 5 years and has a background in social work, health services management and service improvement and strategic development.

Working closely with the economist Michael Parsonage, Matt and he developed a nationally- and internationally- respected portfolio of work on liaison psychiatry and the impact of co-morbidity more generally.

Working with the University of Leeds, he is a co-applicant for a major NIHR study of liaison psychiatry, where the Centre will be providing expertise in ensuring that project outcomes have impact in influencing both policy and practice.

Matt is also a Director of the Veterans and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University and he has written and researched extensively in this area. He is an honorary lecturer in the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham and is also the Vice Chair of Healthwatch Essex.
