The project

“A day in the life” is a high profile series of blogs initiated by the social enterprise Social Spider CIC and funded by Public Health England.

Social Spider encouraged people with mental health difficulties to blog about their day over a series of four calendar dates across the year. It has amassed a public online collection of ‘a day in the life’ of individuals living with mental health problems.

Centre for Mental Health and Social Spider are looking for two people to work alongside a Centre for Mental Health researcher to code over 700 blogs each to support the analysis of this project.

The intern employment is with Social Spider, a social enterprise which delivers research, writes, publishes and trains services as well as running local and national projects, it will be based with Centre for Mental Health, a national charity at our offices near London Bridge.

Intern Role

  • ž Coding blogs against already established indicators
  • ž Inserting all codes into an existing database
  • ž Discussing codes with a researcher

Person Specification

  • ž A good understanding of qualitative data
  • ž Previous experience with coding qualitative data
  • ž Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • ž Flexibility and ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • ž Attention to detail
  • ž Accuracy skills
  • ž Strong work ethic
