Ibrahim Hirsi

Peer Researcher

Ibrahim Hirsi is a peer researcher with Centre for Mental Health and is in his last year of sixth form. His interests lie in mental health amongst black males, and how being away from one’s homeland can affect someone’s mental health. He became interested in mental health through his involvement in Lightpost – a young black male theatre group that has an emphasis on mental health and wellbeing. The Lightpost Theatre Company (based at The REP, Birmingham) is part of the Shifting the Dial programme. A poet, he is currently working on his first collection exploring inheritance, history, freedom fighting and defiance.
