The Independent Review of the Mental Health Act has been established by the UK Government to make recommendations for reform of the Act and associated practice. The review is currently in its initial scoping phase. It is engaging widely with interested stakeholders to identify priorities for further work later this year.

This workshop is part of that scoping process. It will be hosted by the chair of the review, Professor Sir Simon Wessely. Our aim is to bring together interested parties of all types (eg service users, carers, professionals) to share their views on how the Act and associated practice might be improved.

This is just one of a number of ways we are gathering perspectives on the Act in this initial phase, and there will be further opportunities to engage as the review runs its course. In particular, we are currently encouraging anyone who has been sectioned/detained under the Act, or cared for someone who has been, to participate in a survey.

This event is now fully booked. If you would like to go on the waiting list for tickets please email [email protected].
