About this course
What if your clients approached their job search with renewed energy, focus, and commitment?
This 1-day interactive training course is designed for employment specialists working in IPS services and has a focus on motivating individuals back to their goal of employment.
This course explores how motivational interviewing techniques can empower people towards change, with an aim to keeping them focused and proactive in their job search. The goal is reducing internal barriers and negative attitudes, improving confidence and raising awareness of the benefits of employment to wellbeing.
Prepare for fun role-play activities! This courses uses several role play activates where you try out motivational techniques with other delegates.
Whether you’re working with long-term unemployed clients or those facing new challenges, this course will help you to support individuals to tap into their own strengths, and inspire lasting change.
The training will cover:
- Working with resistance.
- Barriers to change.
- Developing advanced listening skills.
- Use of strategic questions to elicit behaviour change.
- Role play exercises.

Cancellation policy
Cancellations made less than 2 weeks before the course are subject to full payment.
Cancellations made more than 2 weeks before the course have the option to transfer to a different date or receive a refund.
Please note that transfers are not possible with less than 2 weeks’ notice. In the unlikely event that Centre for Mental Health needs to cancel a course, delegates will be offered a place on the next available course or a full refund. By completing the booking form, you agree to these terms.
