Making it Diverse

Mental health promotion and Black and minority ethnic groups

This publication shows how mental health promotion can help to improve the mental health of the Black and minority ethnic population, through both universal programmes that meet the needs of the whole population and specific mental health promotion initiatives that work with and target different Black and minority ethnic groups.

This will help ensure that the needs of the Black and minority ethnic population are addressed and inequalities in health and mental health challenged through local mental health promotion strategies implemented in response to Standard One of the National Service Framework for Mental Health.

This publication was written by mentality, the first national team dedicated solely to the promotion of mental health.
