Sean Duggan and Bob Grove today began work as joint chief executives of Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health following the retirement last week of Angela Greatley.
Sean Duggan and Bob Grove were appointed in June by Sainsbury Centre Trustees, with Andy Bell as deputy, to take on the leadership of the charity following Angela Greatley's decision to retire at the end of October. Both were previously directors of Sainsbury Centre's two work programmes, in employment and in criminal justice.
As joint chief executives, they will lead Sainsbury Centre's endeavours to sustain its work into the future, beyond the time of annual core funding from the Gatsby Charitable Foundation.
Both today paid tribute to Angela Greatley's leadership of Sainsbury Centre since 2005 and looked to its future.
Bob Grove said: "We all owe thanks to Angela Greatley for her leadership of Sainsbury Centre. Her strength of character, her humanity and her commitment to the cause have been instrumental in what we have together achieved in her time. We wish her well as she begins her retirement and we take up responsibility for shaping the future of the Centre and its programmes.
Sean Duggan said: "Bob and I are thrilled to be leading an organisation with such a dedicated and capable staff team. Working with our Trustees, our advisers and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, we will make every effort to ensure that our work continues to be robust, independent and relevant to people's lives in the years to come. We are confident that Sainsbury Centre's work will continue to thrive and look forward to the challenge of building a sustainable future."
Chris Foy, chair of Sainsbury Centre, said: "On behalf of the Trustees of Sainsbury Centre, I would like to thank Angela Greatley for her leadership of the organisation since 2005. I am delighted that Bob Grove and Sean Duggan, together with Andy Bell, will be taking on leadership from today and look forward to continuing to work with them to bring a bright and lasting future to Sainsbury Centre's crucial work."
