Linda Seymour has been appointed to the Board of NICE

1 November 2009

Linda Seymour, our Head of Policy, has been appointed a Lay Member of the Board of The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). This is a prestigious appointment and was the subject of a competitive recruitment process.

The NICE Board comprises nine non-executive directors and five executive directors and has a remit for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Their role is to develop strategies and detailed work programmes to meet NHS and wider public health communities' needs for clear standards and robust guidance on high quality clinical and public health practice accessible to front line practitioners and the public.

NICE works in close collaboration with the Royal Colleges, professional associations, academic units and other health professionals, healthcare industries and patient advocacy organisations to develop strategies that underpin the Institute's programmes.

NICE aims to develop and sustain a network of systems and relationships such that NHS organisations, other service providers, local government and patient and public representatives ensure that the dissemination and implementation of guidance is effective.
