Sean Duggan is currently Director of Health and Social Care in Criminal Justice at the London Development Centre of the Care Services Improvement Partnership and Consultant in Offender Heath for the Department of Health. He was previously Director of Nursing at Worthing Priority Services NHS Trust and is a Registered Mental Health Nurse who has worked extensively in forensic psychiatry.

Sean will begin work at SCMH in March. He will lead SCMH's major new work programme to improve mental health in Britain's prisons.

Sean Duggan said: "I am thrilled to be joining SCMH at this important time in its history. We have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the criminal justice system to make a difference in the lives of offenders and their communities."

SCMH chief executive Angela Greatley said: "I am delighted that Sean will be leading our prisons and criminal justice programme. We know that prisoners in the UK experience very high levels of mental distress. We know that far too many get inadequate care for those problems. We hope to find practical solutions to offer prisoners the support they need to rebuild their lives."
