One of the voluntary sector agencies who were involved in the re-commissioning process in Eastern Surrey was the Richmond Fellowship. Richmond Fellowship services across Surrey have exceeded targets for referrals and outcomes, whilst continuing to develop good links with a variety of agencies across the area.
Across their two services in Epsom and Redhill, the Richmond Fellowship have worked with over 400 service users, during the last year, and of these people almost 3 in 10 went into employment or further education.
Of those helped into employment two-thirds were working full-time and one-third part-time.
With service users, carers and staff understandably anxious about the possibility of closure of some services, it is important to manage the process in an open, organised and sensitive way. By ensuring good communication with service users, carers and professionals, it is possible to achieve positive outcomes for service users prior to the closure.
